Renovated branch brings enhanced technology, accessibility and continued community investment to Putnam

Putnam, CT (October 23, 2026) – Centreville Bank celebrated the grand reopening of its newly renovated Putnam branch on Thursday, October 22, marking the completion of a significant renovation project designed to modernize the banking experience, improve accessibility, enhance security and support the needs of customers and employees for years to come.

The project began in spring 2026 and was completed while maintaining uninterrupted service through a temporary on-site Bank-in-a-Box facility.

The extensive renovation transformed both the interior and exterior of the branch, incorporating updated technology, a redesigned customer experience, improved accessibility features, enhanced security measures and modernized workspaces for employees.

New features include Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) with drive-up and walk-up access, providing customers with expanded access to live banking services and extended service hours. Customers can speak directly with a Centreville Bank representative through the ITM network, often connecting with a member of the Putnam team.

“This renovation represents our ongoing commitment to Northeast Connecticut and the customers, businesses and communities we have proudly served for generations,” said Hal Horvat, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Centreville Bank. “While this project modernizes the branch with new technology, enhanced accessibility and improved customer amenities, it is ultimately about investing in relationships. Putnam has long been an important part of our story, and this investment ensures we can continue delivering exceptional service and personalized banking experiences for decades to come.”

The grand reopening brought together customers, employees, community leaders and local officials, including Deputy Mayor Scott Pempek, Connecticut State Senator Mae Flexer, Sylvie Hanshaw of the Putnam Business Association and Kelly Bellavance, Executive Director of the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce. Senator Flexer also presented a state proclamation recognizing the milestone.

“Our customers have been incredibly supportive throughout this renovation,” said Brandy Hapgood, Branch Manager. “From the day we moved into the Bank-in-a-Box to the day we welcomed customers back into the renovated branch, our community continued to place its trust in us. We are excited to provide a more modern, accessible and convenient banking experience while continuing to deliver the personal service that our customers have come to expect from our team.”

The celebration also highlighted Centreville Bank’s commitment to investing beyond the walls of its branches. Paola Fonseca-Fernandez, SVP, Community Development, presented two community impact grants during the event, including support for the Hale YMCA and Putnam Elementary School. The $4500.00 grant for Putnam Elementary School will help fund the addition of several weatherproof picnic tables for the school playground, providing new outdoor spaces for students as the PTO continues its broader playground improvement efforts.

“We are incredibly grateful to Centreville Bank for their investment in our students’ outdoor spaces,” said Emilia Reynolds, Putnam Elementary School PTO Treasurer. “Their generous support of three new picnic tables crosses a huge item off our wish list and brings us another step closer to making these much-needed playground improvements a reality.”

The branch renovation reflects Centreville Bank’s continued investment in Connecticut and its commitment to creating spaces that support customers, employees and communities while preserving the relationship-based approach that defines community banking.
