Harold "Hal" M. Horvat

President, Chief Executive Officer & Chairman of the Board

Harold “Hal” M. Horvat serves as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board of Centreville Bank, where he leads the bank’s strategic direction, growth initiatives, and community partnerships. With more than three decades of experience in banking, Hal brings a wealth of financial expertise and a deep commitment to strengthening the communities the bank serves.

Since joining Centreville Bank in 2014, Hal has overseen a period of transformative growth and modernization. Under his leadership, the bank has evolved from a traditional community institution into a thriving regional organization with a growing presence across Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut. His tenure has been marked by record asset growth, branch expansion, and major investments in digital banking technology—all achieved while preserving the personalized service and integrity that define Centreville’s values.

Hal’s leadership philosophy centers on sustainable growth, innovation, and purpose-driven banking. He believes success is best measured not only by financial performance but by the bank’s ability to improve lives, strengthen local businesses, and create opportunities across the communities it serves. His focus on employee engagement and organizational culture has also helped Centreville earn national recognition as one of “America’s Best Workplaces” and “Best Banks to Work For.”

In addition to his executive role, Hal is deeply involved in civic and nonprofit work. He serves on the board of Friends Way, a Rhode Island nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families coping with grief, where he has volunteered as a group facilitator for over a decade. His long-standing dedication to that mission earned him the Michael E. Wiggins Leadership Award in 2017. Hal also serves on the board of The Business Development Company, an organization that provides capital and advisory services to local businesses across the region.

A Rhode Island native, Hal holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA from Bryant University, where he was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2023. He lives in Cranston, Rhode Island, with his family and remains actively involved in mentoring emerging leaders, supporting small business development, and championing community investment initiatives.
