Historic Storm Underscores Need as Centreville Bank Charitable Foundation Announces Latest Funding Round, Highlighted by Meals on Wheels Grant
Funding supports emergency food access, education, and community-based solutions addressing urgent and long-term needs.
West Warwick, RI (June 1, 2026) — The Centreville Bank Charitable Foundation has awarded $562,000 in total giving in its latest funding round, supporting a broad portfolio of community-based organizations and college scholarships designed to strengthen long-term economic mobility, expand access, and respond to emerging community needs in real time.
A key investment includes a $50,000 grant to Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island to support emergency meal delivery for homebound residents. Severe winter weather earlier this year reinforced the need for consistent, reliable food access for seniors and medically fragile individuals, particularly when travel and access are disrupted. This funding strengthens delivery capacity and helps ensure continuity of service when it is needed most.
“The Blizzard of 2026 illustrated just how critical this investment is to our ability to serve homebound older adults,” said Meg Grady, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island. “Without the Foundation’s support, many of the older adults we serve wouldn’t have had access to nutritious foods when the roads were inaccessible. We are incredibly thankful for the Foundation’s generosity and commitment to our impact.”
“Our focus is on meeting communities where they are, especially when needs shift quickly,” said Hal Horvat, President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board, Centreville Bank. “Whether it’s food access, workforce opportunity, or education, these investments are designed to respond in the moment while building long-term impact.”
In addition to grantmaking, this quarter’s total includes scholarships awarded to students pursuing higher education, further advancing the Foundation’s commitment to long-term opportunity and access.
